Alhamdulillah, Mercy is back in business. It’s great to see students settling in and getting back to their school routine. They are feeling comfortable in their school practices as they meet their new teachers, get accustomed to their new schedules, organize their cubbies and lockers, and yes, learn. Please let us know how your child is adjusting and if we can assist in this transitional period.
I would like to send a warm welcome to the new families who join us this year. We are glad you are here! Insha’ Allah, this year proves to be full of growth and successful. I strongly encourage new parents to join the PTO, which brings parents and teachers together to promote activities that support our school and help our children succeed!
Education became my passion after interning at a women’s center helping women pass their GED. Many of the students there would comment that they wished they had a teacher in high school explain things the way I did; they would have passed high school. From there on, my philosophy has been that everyone can learn; failing is never an option. Given the appropriate and targeted instruction, all students can learn to the peak of their ability
Awarded a full scholarship, I attended and graduated from New York University. In addition, I studied English literature on partial scholarship in London and visited Paris, Scotland and Whales.
My first teaching experience was spent teaching English in New York City public and private schools. There on, my teaching experiences consisted of teaching coast-to-coast from Maryland to Oregon as well as abroad in Saudi Arabia where I began teaching in the American School and tutored adults in English as a Second Language.
I am certified as an English teacher for grades 6-12. I have an additional certificate, which certifies me to teach all subjects to grades 1-8.
I am confident and excited about my appointment as principal at Mercy School Institute. My decision to service Mercy stems from its clear mission and vision and the professionalism that goes into the institution’s sustainability. Because of the strong foundation Mercy embraces, my goal is easy; I promise to continue to carry out Mercy School’s important traditions and practices while building bridges to new ones that fit our evolving dynamics. As an administrator, I offer Mercy School insight as a licensed and experienced instructional leader. In addition, as a parent of six beautiful and difficult ☺ children, I share a parental vision for our students.
I have very high expectations for our teachers, parents, students, community and myself. I promise to set a tone of academic excellence and provide a culture of tarbiyah, professionalism and mutual respect .
I believe by working together our children will become confident life-long learners. I believe together we can do great things for children. I am humbled and thrilled to be a part of this remarkable school community and am ready to get the ball rolling. Inshaa Allah success, fun, and positive years are to come.
