SUSPENSION
The principal shall have the authority
to suspend any student who violates any of the school rules, whether
in transit to or from school, or during the school day or school
related activities. A student is subject to suspension for one to
three days for class disruption, cheating, lying, rudeness, disobedience,
refusal to do assignments, minor fighting, throwing objects that
could cause injury, temper tantrums, or any other improper behavior.
The parents will be called to take the child home and informed of
the reason for the suspension. It is expected that the parents will
take appropriate measures in support of the school. The child will
be given school materials to do minimum class work missed. The parent
is responsible for its completion and return. Upon return to school,
the child must apologize and promise that he/she will improve their
behavior. Upon their infraction, a conference will be set up with
the child’s parents, teacher, and principal. The school will set
up a mandatory 3-4 week plan for the child which all will sign.
The parents and school will each have a copy of the plan. The plan
will contain the consequences if the child does not make sufficient
improvement. A student will be suspended or expelled immediately
for violent or dangerous behavior or action toward any adult or
student at MS. This will also result from extreme rudeness or disobedience,
extreme disruption in class or on the playground, destruction or
theft of school, or personal property, continuous disregard for
school or class rules, profanity, or vulgarity, or any other gross
behavior. A student will also be suspended or expelled for gross
continuing negligence of schoolwork and homework. Parents will be
called to come for a conference to implement suspension or expulsion.
Once expelled, a student may not enroll at MS. Parents will be called
to pick up their child, or will be notified that the child has been
suspended, the cause, and for how long.
DISMISSAL
A student will be removed from a classroom
to a designated authority when the teacher judges that the student
is interfering with the teaching-learning situation for the majority
of the class. Also, the teacher may request that the student not
be returned to the classroom until a conference is held between
the teacher and the designated authority.
