INTRODUCTION With the grace of Allah (swt), Mercy School was founded in 1999. It is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, next to the beautiful Masjid An-Nasr. (The Muslim community in OKC comprises of almost 5000 plus Muslims)
Initially Mercy School offered education from grades Pre-K3 to 4th
grade and now offers grades Pre-K3 to 6th grade. We have a very
professional team of qualified and dedicated Muslim teachers and
staff. MERCY SCHOOL AIMS to nurture confidence and commitment in Muslim
youth who will draw upon the Quran and Sunnah to achieve moral,
spiritual, and material excellence in all fields of endeavor. To
this end, we shall cultivate balanced personalities who, upon graduation,
will be ambitious yet responsible, competitive yet caring, practical
yet reflective, open-minded yet principled, motivated yet focused,
and progressive yet aware. MERCY SCHOOL AIMS to develop not only a quality elementary school,
but also educational facilities for all ages and all levels. A weekend
and evening institute for learning Arabic and Islamic Sciences are
part of Mercy Schools plan to empower the Muslim population with
knowledge. The vision of Mercy School is to develop a Muslim community.
GOALS
CURRICULUM Mercy School is committed to the education of the whole child and to instill in each of its students the principles of submission to the Will of Allah (swt) as the essential element in achieving human excellence. The goal is to preserve the Muslim character and to develop spirituality, self-worth, self-discipline, self-actualization, independence, ethical and moral values, love of learning, acquiring knowledge and service. Mercy School is dedicated to providing our Muslim children with a learning environment of the highest caliber. Academic excellence is stressed within an Islamic atmosphere. The educational program aims to meet not only the physical, emotional and educational needs of our children, but their spiritual needs as well. The further objective of the school is to provide bilingual education for effective understanding of Islamic sources in the Arabic Language. The educational program of MS follows the curriculum set by the State of Oklahoma and uses high quality text books. This basic program is expanded and enriched at every level enriching the student with exceptional learning opportunities. Qur'an, Arabic and Islam are major academic subjects and are presented in sequential manner beginning in Preschool up through all grade levels. Primary focus on all levels is building English and Arabic vocabulary. All grade levels emphasize the cognitive, social, physical, and emotional development of the child. For the physical development of its students, Mercy offers an excellent PE program in Tae Kwon Do. TEACHERS CHOICE As a parent myself, I know we all want the best for our children. I have been teaching 1st grade in public school for more than ten years and when I heard about the opening of Mercy School I could not praise Allah enough for this blessing. I quit teaching in the public school and have been at Mercy School since its inaugural year in 1999. There is no amount of money that could be offered to me where I would go back to teaching Public School! Why? Because Allah has answered a prayer Ive prayed for many years and that is to have an Islamic School. There are many problems that face a child just by being in a public school setting: violence, weapons, sexual activity, etc. Allahu Akbar! You will not find any of these things at Mercy School. Your child will leave you daily coming to a safe, Islamic environment, where he/she can concentrate on his/her studies. And you will be able to leave your child with peace of mind.
